Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, has sparked fresh controversy after urging his supporters to closely monitor how voters cast their ballots during the ongoing Osun State governorship election.

Fadahunsi made the remarks at Polling Unit 001, NUD Primary School, Ilase-Ijesa, where he also participated in the election.

In a video circulating online, the senator, speaking in Yoruba, was heard telling supporters to pay attention to the candidates voters were thumbprinting for.

He urged his supporters and polling agents not to simply rely on what voters say they have done, but to monitor the voting process closely.

Fadahunsi reportedly said that anyone who voted for a candidate considered unacceptable by his supporters should be identified, a comment that has raised concerns about voter intimidation and the secrecy of the ballot.

The development comes shortly after the senator faced criticism over another controversial comment concerning members of the Accord Party ahead of the election.

Fadahunsi had previously been accused of threatening opposition supporters during a political gathering in Ilesa. He later clarified that his use of the word “kill” was political and metaphorical, insisting that he meant defeating the opposition through votes rather than physical violence.

His latest comments have nevertheless generated renewed reactions, with critics accusing him of attempting to influence voters’ choices at the polling unit.

The Imole Campaign Council, associated with Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election campaign, condemned the remarks and called on security agencies to intervene, describing them as unacceptable and undemocratic.

The controversy comes as voters across Osun State participate in the governorship election, with political parties and their supporters closely monitoring developments at polling units across the state.
