FACT CHECK: OSUN DECIDES 2026 LATEST UPDATE

There is currently no verified statewide leader in the Osun governorship election.

INEC has not announced collated results from which an authoritative statewide lead can be calculated.
Counting and lower-level collation are still under way, and the results circulating publicly represent only selected polling units.

Some early media tallies indicate that Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party is ahead among the limited polling-unit results tracked so far.
However, those returns are far too incomplete and geographically uneven to establish the actual statewide position.
Other provisional situation-room figures claiming that APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji is leading have not been substantiated by an official, comprehensive INEC tally.

Therefore, our earlier report stating that “APC reportedly retains the lead” should be corrected or withdrawn. The evidence currently available does not justify that assertion.

The accurate editorial formulation is:

Early polling-unit returns suggest an initial advantage for Adeleke in some independently tracked results, but no authoritative statewide leader has emerged because INEC collation is still ongoing.

INEC results must pass from polling units through ward and local-government collation before the final state result is declared in Osogbo. Until a substantial and representative share has been collated, claims that either candidate is leading statewide remain provisional and potentially misleading.
