Former Managing Director of the Rivers State Signage and Advertisement Agency (RISAA), Chukwudi Dimkpa, has been elected as the Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State following a consensus state congress.

The congress, which was recently held, reportedly produced state and local government executives across all 23 local government areas and 319 wards, in line with guidelines set by the party’s national leadership.
The party’s Election Committee announced the outcome while briefing journalists in Port Harcourt, describing the exercise as orderly and compliant with internal party procedures.

A formal handover to the newly elected executives is expected in the coming days as the party begins a new phase of internal restructuring.
Speaking after his emergence, Dimkpa said his election reflects the collective will of party members, adding that his leadership would focus on inclusiveness and participation.
He stated that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State remains open to new members, noting that registration efforts are ongoing to strengthen the party’s grassroots base.

The Chairperson of the Election Committee, Obaro Egunune, praised party members for their cooperation during the process, describing it as a demonstration of unity and teamwork.

He acknowledged that while the exercise required coordination, it was successfully completed with the support of stakeholders across the state.
The outgoing state chairman, Sampson Leader, also described the congress as credible and well-organised, expressing confidence in the new leadership.

He urged members of the party to support the incoming executives in order to strengthen the party’s structure and improve its chances ahead of the 2027 elections.
