APC DITCHES SUSWAM, 25 OTHER NASS CANDIDATES

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved major changes to the party’s list of candidates for the 2027 general elections, replacing several senatorial and House of Representatives candidates after reviewing appeals from the party’s primary elections.

The revised list, signed by APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and National Secretary Ajibola Basiru, has been forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for necessary action.

According to the party, the changes followed the recommendations of the Primary Election Appeal Committee, which were reviewed and approved by the NWC as the party’s final position on the affected constituencies.

Among the notable changes, former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam lost the APC senatorial ticket for Benue North East to Emmanuel Memga Udende, while former House of Representatives member Gbenga Elegbeleye was replaced by Olajide Ipinsagba as the party’s candidate for Ondo North.

Other senatorial changes include Sunday Karimi replacing Aro Samuel Bamidele in Kogi West, Prince Paul Ikonne taking over from Edinburgh Uchenna Erondu in Abia South, Titus Tartenger Zam replacing Benjamin T. Aber in Benue North West, Shuibu Isa Lau replacing Mohammed Kabir Bello in Taraba North, and Adeniyi Adegbonmire replacing Taiwo Fasoranti in Ondo Central.

The APC also made changes to 19 House of Representatives candidates across several states, including Benue, Taraba, Niger, Kwara, Ondo, Kaduna, Abia and Ebonyi.

Benue recorded the highest number of substitutions, with new candidates emerging in Makurdi/Guma, Vandeikya/Konshisha, Kwande/Ushongo, Buruku, and Gwer East/Gwer West federal constituencies.

Additional replacements were announced in Taraba, Niger, Kwara and Kaduna, while Ondo State recorded six changes across various federal constituencies.

The party also replaced candidates for Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency in Abia State and Afikpo North/Edda Federal Constituency in Ebonyi State.

The APC said the updated list represents its official and final candidates for the affected senatorial districts and House of Representatives constituencies in line with the Electoral Act 2022 and INEC’s guidelines.
