FADEYI OLUWASEUN DUMPS PDP, DECLARES 2027 RE-ELECTION BID ON APC

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, has officially declared his intention to contest the Osun Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.

Fadeyi, who was first elected to the Senate in 2023 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), later defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he is now seeking re-election.

According to a statement released by his Special Adviser on Digital Media and Publicity, Desmond Adekanola, political associates and supporters of the senator in Osun Central reportedly purchased the APC nomination form worth N20 million on his behalf at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

The group, known as Team Ajagunla and led by former Osun PDP Secretary Akin Titiloye, described the move as a collective decision driven by confidence in Fadeyi’s performance and representation.

Titiloye said the decision reflected broad-based support for the senator across the district.

“We are not acting alone; this reflects the widespread support he enjoys. Though friends and associates contributed to purchase this form for him, he is currently unaware of this development,” he said.

He added that the aim was to ensure continuity in development projects and governance delivery across Osun Central.

According to him, “We came together to purchase this form to ensure that the development being witnessed across Osun Central Senatorial District continues without interruption.”

The group expressed confidence that if re-elected, Fadeyi would expand ongoing projects and further strengthen infrastructure and community development across the district.

They also highlighted his legislative efforts and constituency projects, noting that he has contributed to improving road infrastructure and access across rural communities.

Fadeyi, through the same statement, recently announced the completion of the Araromi/Rear Afolahan Road in Ila-Orangun, describing it as a key route connecting several communities within Osun State.

He said the project aligns with his campaign promises and forms part of broader efforts to drive economic activity, improve mobility, and support rural development.

The senator added that he remains committed to using all available legislative and governmental channels to advance the interests of his constituents and deliver more infrastructure projects across Osun Central.
