Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have recovered a Toyota Hilux that was stolen in Abuja and later traced to Kaduna State, leading to the arrest of one suspect.
The police said the successful operation was carried out by officers attached to the Maitama Division following a swift response to a report of the vehicle theft.

According to the command, the Divisional Police Officer of the Maitama Division, CSP Altine Daniel, received a distress call on June 20, 2026, reporting that a white 2014 Toyota Hilux with registration number BWR 712 CV had been stolen from the Wuse II area of Abuja.
The vehicle owner reportedly parked the Hilux at about 1:30 p.m. but discovered it missing just four minutes later after an unidentified individual allegedly drove it away.

Following the report, police immediately alerted security formations and patrol teams across entry and exit points within the FCT, directing them to intensify stop-and-search operations to prevent the vehicle from leaving the territory.
Using digital tracking technology, officers traced the stolen vehicle to Kubacha village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where it was successfully recovered at approximately 3:30 p.m. on the same day.

One suspect was arrested during the operation and is currently in police custody alongside the recovered vehicle.
The police said investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the theft and determine whether other individuals were involved.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, also urged residents to remain vigilant and adopt adequate security measures to safeguard their vehicles and other valuable property.
