The Katsina State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with a mob attack that led to the death of KC Joe in Kokami village, Danja Local Government Area.

According to the state police spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq, the suspects are in custody as investigations continue. The incident reportedly began after a dispute between the victim, KC Joe, and Ibrahim Auwal, who was stabbed to death by Joe. The altercation triggered a mob response that resulted in Joe’s death.

State Commissioner of Police, Ali Fage, condemned the incident, urging residents to report disputes to the police instead of taking the law into their own hands. He assured that the case will be thoroughly investigated, with those responsible facing justice.
The Katsina State Government also condemned the killings, emphasizing that the violence stemmed from a personal disagreement over garri and sachet water. Following Auwal’s death at Abdullahi Makama Hospital in Dabai, some community youths attacked Joe, killing him and setting his body ablaze along the highway.

Dr. Nasir Mu’azu Danmusa, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, described the incident as unacceptable and warned against twisting it into an ethnic or religious conflict. He assured that security agencies have been deployed to maintain peace, and that all involved in the violence will be prosecuted.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, in the spirit of Easter, called on residents to embrace faith and promote religious harmony as key tools for Katsina’s development. He stressed that unity between Christians and Muslims is essential for progress, noting that schools and healthcare facilities in the state serve people of all faiths.
The governor urged religious leaders to continue working together to maintain peace and commended the Christian community for its contributions to Katsina’s growth. He wished all Christians a blessed Easter and called for the message of love and unity to extend beyond the festive season.
