MILITARY LAUNCHES DEADLY AIRSTRIKE ON TERRORIST HIDEOUTS, KILLS 27 IN BORNO

The Nigerian military has recorded another success in its ongoing counterterrorism campaign after air operations carried out in Borno State reportedly eliminated 27 terrorists in separate missions.

According to military sources, the operations were conducted by the air component of Operation Hadin Kai following intelligence gathering and surveillance activities across terrorist-held locations in the state.

One of the strikes targeted Dawoshe, a known terrorist hideout in the Southern Tumbus area. During aerial surveillance, military aircraft reportedly identified vehicles belonging to the insurgents before launching a coordinated attack. Post-strike assessments indicated that the vehicles were destroyed, while 12 terrorists were killed during the operation.

A second mission was carried out in Metele, located within the Northern Tumbus area of Guzamala Local Government Area. Intelligence reports and subsequent assessments confirmed that 15 terrorists were neutralised in the precision strike.

Military authorities stated that the operations significantly disrupted terrorist activities within the Lake Chad region and surrounding Tumbus hideouts, which have long served as operational bases for insurgent groups.

The latest offensive forms part of ongoing efforts by security forces to weaken terrorist networks, destroy logistics channels and limit the movement of insurgents across the North-East.

Officials said the successful missions demonstrate the continued use of intelligence-led operations and air power in targeting terrorist strongholds across the region.

The Armed Forces also reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining offensive operations against insurgent groups until peace and stability are fully restored in affected communities.
