Healthcare delivery in Kaduna State is set to receive a major boost with the commissioning of a state-of-the-art Cardiac Centre in Tudun Wada, Kaduna South Local Government Area.
The facility, established through a collaboration between the Kaduna State Government and the Muslim World League, is expected to provide advanced cardiovascular diagnosis, treatment and care to patients across the state and beyond.
The centre is scheduled to be commissioned by the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa.
According to a statement by the Director-General of the Kaduna State Interfaith Bureau, Malam Tahir Umar Tahir, the facility is designed to reduce the number of Nigerians travelling abroad in search of specialised cardiac treatment.
He said the centre would provide comprehensive cardiovascular services and would be open to patients irrespective of their religious background.
The development represents another addition to Kaduna State’s tertiary healthcare infrastructure and is part of ongoing efforts by Governor Uba Sani’s administration to improve access to quality healthcare.
The statement highlighted several healthcare initiatives undertaken by the administration since the governor assumed office.
According to Tahir, all 255 Primary Healthcare Centres across the state have been renovated, equipped and upgraded to Level 2 status.
The administration has also expanded access to maternal, newborn, child and adolescent healthcare services while strengthening routine immunisation, disease surveillance and community-based healthcare programmes.
Other measures, according to the statement, include improved emergency preparedness, support for the Basic Health Care Provision Fund and expanded health insurance coverage through the Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority.
The state government is also revitalising its secondary healthcare system, with General Hospitals undergoing infrastructure upgrades and modern medical equipment being deployed to improve diagnostic capacity.
The administration has further prioritised the recruitment of healthcare professionals across various cadres, strengthened workforce planning and supported continuous professional development and capacity-building programmes.
Tahir said the state had also sustained the implementation of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for medical doctors and the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) for eligible healthcare professionals.
The government has equally continued to fund the Medical Residency Training Fund, which is aimed at developing the next generation of specialist physicians and strengthening the state’s medical workforce.
The commissioning of the Cardiac Centre will further expand Kaduna’s specialist healthcare capacity, complementing existing tertiary facilities, including the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital, which was commissioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in June 2025.
The new cardiac facility is expected to provide residents with greater access to specialised heart care while helping reduce the need for patients to seek treatment outside the country.
