Nollywood Stars Rally Support for Ogogo as Daughters Seek Medical Help for Stage-Four Cancer
Prominent Nollywood personalities have joined efforts to support veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, after his daughters made an emotional appeal for medical assistance as he battles stage-four cancer.
Actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo on Monday called on members of the public to help the family connect with reputable medical professionals and treatment centres capable of reviewing Hassan’s medical records and providing further treatment options.
Adebayo said the family was not asking for financial assistance but urgently needed medical guidance.
“Please let’s rally around our beloved Sir Taiwo Hassan, who is currently facing a serious health challenge battling cancer.”
He appealed to people with connections to oncology specialists, hospitals and advanced cancer treatment centres to reach out to the actor’s family.
According to him, medical facilities and specialists anywhere in the world could be considered if they were able to review Hassan’s condition and recommend appropriate treatment.
“As shared by his family, they are NOT looking for money or financial support. What they urgently need is medical direction.”
Adebayo also urged Nigerians to share the family’s appeal widely so it could reach medical professionals and organisations capable of offering assistance.
Toyin Abraham joins appeal
Actress Toyin Abraham also joined the campaign on Tuesday, sharing a video of Ogogo’s daughters on Instagram and appealing to people who could help to contact the family or reach out to her.
She encouraged anyone with access to medical assistance or relevant connections to come forward.
The growing support followed emotional appeals made by Ogogo’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, on social media on Monday.
Daughters seek specialist treatment
The daughters revealed that their 66-year-old father is battling stage-four cancer and appealed to Nigerians, medical professionals and well-wishers to help identify specialists or medical facilities that could treat him.
Lima said her father’s condition had deteriorated and claimed that hospitals had declined to continue treating him.
Kira also said doctors at his current hospital had informed the family that he could no longer continue with chemotherapy.
Both daughters stressed that they were not seeking financial donations. Instead, they appealed for medical assistance, specialist recommendations and information about treatment options that could potentially help their father.
The appeals have since generated widespread reactions from colleagues, fans and members of the public, with several Nollywood personalities joining the effort to find further medical assistance for the veteran actor.
