ONDO STATE GOVERNOR MOURNS AFENIFERE LEADER [VIDEO]

Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, the renowned leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has died at the age of 100.

The Nation reports that his death was confirmed on Tuesday in Akure, Ondo State, with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa announcing the development in a condolence statement issued on behalf of the state government.

Fasoranti was a respected elder statesman whose contributions to Yoruba affairs and Nigeria’s socio-political development earned him widespread recognition.

In his condolence message, Aiyedatiwa described the late Afenifere leader as a patriarch and a symbol of wisdom, integrity and selfless service. He noted that Fasoranti dedicated his life to the development of Ondo State, Yorubaland and Nigeria at large.

The governor added that the late elder statesman’s counsel, fatherly guidance and firm stance on justice and good governance would be greatly missed.

He further stated that Fasoranti had left behind an enduring legacy of honour, service and commitment that would continue to inspire generations to come.

“On behalf of the Government and the good people of Ondo State, I commiserate with the Fasoranti family, the people of Akure Kingdom and the entire State over this great loss,” Aiyedatiwa said.

The governor also prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul and asked for comfort for his family, associates and all those mourning his passing.

Pa Reuben Fasoranti was the only man who could comfortably put his hands on the head of Mr President

This is a testament to the immense respect and honour he commanded.

He was highly respected, honoured and celebrated. He was not ordinary afenifere leader. He was a stateman who distinguished himself in all aspects of life. He was a true AFENIFERE.

His life was a testament to the fact that true greatness is not measured by the positions we occupy but by the lives we touch and the legacy we leave behind.

May his soul continue to rest in peace.
