The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has praised the Lagos State Security Trust Fund for its significant role in supporting his policing achievements during his time as Commander of the Lagos Rapid Response Squad.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the agency’s media team, he made the remarks on Saturday during a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund in Alausa, Ikeja, where he was received by its Executive Secretary/CEO, Ayo Ogunsan.
The visit underscored the long-standing collaboration between security agencies and the Trust Fund in improving policing and security operations across Lagos State.

Speaking during the visit, Disu reflected on his experience as RRS Commander, describing the support from LSSTF as crucial to his operational success.
He noted that despite overseeing more than 2,000 officers alongside vehicles, armoured personnel carriers, and helicopters, logistics was rarely a challenge due to consistent backing from the Trust Fund.
He explained that the LSSTF regularly provided essential support such as vehicle maintenance, tyres, batteries, and other operational resources, allowing officers to focus fully on security duties.

According to him, the effectiveness often associated with the Rapid Response Squad was largely made possible by the Fund’s interventions.
Disu also called for continued collaboration, especially in boosting the operational capacity of the Lagos State Police Command through additional vehicles and the restoration of aerial surveillance support.
He emphasized that Lagos’ large population and constant influx of people place heavy demands on policing, making sustained support critical for improved security outcomes.
In response, Ayo Ogunsan commended the Inspector-General’s leadership style, describing it as people-centered and impactful, while appreciating his contributions to policing in Lagos.

He also raised concerns about funding challenges facing the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, noting that reduced donor contributions are affecting its operations.
He appealed for stronger stakeholder support to sustain the Fund’s security initiatives across the state.
Representatives of the private sector and board members present reaffirmed their commitment to supporting security efforts in Lagos.

As part of the visit, the Trust Fund donated a new operational vehicle to the Nigeria Police Force Violent Crime Response Unit in Lagos State, further strengthening law enforcement capacity.
The event concluded with an exchange of souvenirs, symbolizing continued partnership between both institutions in enhancing security across Lagos.
