SHEKARAU SPARKS UPROAR WITH CLAIM: KWANKWASO & MYSELF ARE WORKING FOR TINUBU NOW. SHEKARAU SPARKS UPROAR WITH CLAIM: KWANKWASO & MYSELF ARE WORKING FOR TINUBU NOW AS STAKEHOLDERS DISMISS SHEKARAU’S TINUBU CLAIM, DEMAND PROOF OF KWANKWASO ALLIANCE.

Former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, has stirred fresh controversy ahead of the 2027 elections after alleging that the alliance between Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Peter Obi is secretly designed to benefit President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Shekarau claimed that although he openly supports Tinubu, Kwankwaso is allegedly working for the President behind the scenes while presenting himself as part of the opposition.

According to him, both of them are working toward the same political goal ahead of the 2027 elections, but through different approaches.

His remarks came shortly after Kwankwaso publicly defended Obi and described him as a good man who had never worked against the interests of the North. However, Shekarau dismissed the endorsement as political strategy aimed at convincing opposition supporters that the alliance is genuine.

He further alleged that Kwankwaso’s partnership with Obi and the newly formed NDC was meant to divide opposition votes in the North, making it easier for the ruling APC to retain power in 2027.

According to the claims, the arrangement would also position Kwankwaso for future political benefits after Tinubu’s tenure.

The allegations have reportedly created tension among supporters of Obi and members of the opposition coalition, especially within the Obidient movement, where many had welcomed Kwankwaso’s alliance as a major political breakthrough.

In Kano, reactions have continued to trail the development, with supporters of the Kwankwasiyya movement expressing mixed feelings over the claims.

Neither the APC nor the NNPP had officially responded to the allegations at the time of filing this report.

“Speak for Yourself” — Kano Stakeholders Reject Shekarau’s Claim on Kwankwaso, Tinubu

Kwankwaso Denies Shekarau’s Tinubu Claim, Describes Former Kano Governor as ‘Political Sinking Ship’

Fresh political controversy has erupted in Kano following claims by former governor Ibrahim Shekarau that both himself and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso are working for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

However, multiple stakeholders interviewed by Headlinenews.news dismissed the claim, arguing that Shekarau lacks the political relevance to make such declarations on behalf of other political actors.

Some stakeholders alleged that the former governor has a long-standing reputation for being “economical with the truth” and claimed the statement may have been made to project political relevance ahead of the anticipated direct primaries for the Kano Central Senatorial ticket.

According to them, the planned primaries could expose what they described as Shekarau’s declining grassroots influence within Kano politics.

Headlinenews.news also spoke with Kwankwaso, who strongly denied any political alliance with Shekarau or any joint arrangement involving President Tinubu.

Kwankwaso reportedly described Shekarau as “a sinking ship,” adding that only the APC could attempt to “buy damaged political goods with no remaining value or capital.”

He further dismissed claims of Shekarau’s electoral strength, insisting that the former governor “cannot deliver even a Kano Central councillorship seat for the APC today.”

The development has intensified political tensions within Kano ahead of 2027, particularly as debates continue over direct primaries, consensus arrangements, and the growing battle for control of Kano Central’s influential senatorial zone.

Political observers say the sharp exchange highlights the deepening fractures and strategic realignments already shaping Kano’s political landscape ahead of what is expected to become one of Nigeria’s most fiercely contested electoral cycles.

According to Aminu Garba, “If it were true, Shekarau would never say so and expose such a secret. The man is a liar. He has been using Tinubu’s name too often, and the DSS should invite him and caution him. He forced the other aspirants in Kano Central to step down, telling them Tinubu had anointed him.

This was later discovered to be false.

His claim is false. We don’t believe him. Some aspirants are leaving APC because of him. Maybe his defection to APC has a hidden agenda to cause disunity.”
