#Shettima Heads to Davos for 2025 World Economic Forum

Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Davos, Switzerland, to represent Nigeria at the 2025 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

In a statement issued by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Shettima will join global leaders, top business executives, and development partners to deliberate on strategies to improve the global economy.

Key Highlights of the Visit

While in Davos, the Vice President will engage in bilateral meetings with world leaders and participate in workshops and forums aimed at addressing Africa’s economic challenges and opportunities.

Key Events and Discussions:

  1. Workshop on Investment in Africa’s Frontier Markets
    Shettima will attend a workshop titled “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets”, organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB) in collaboration with the WEF. The session, hosted at Jakobshorn Congress Centre, aims to attract capital to Africa’s frontier markets and promote sustainable development on the continent.

    The workshop will feature the announcement of the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing (HRI) Roadmap for Africa, a key initiative to foster partnerships between public and private sector stakeholders to mobilize investments.

  3. High-Level Dinner and Forums
    The Vice President will also participate in a high-profile dinner for heads of state, international organizations, and the WEF’s 2025 Crystal Awardees at Kurpark Village, Eiger.
  4. Co-chairing Digital Trade Forum
    Shettima will co-chair a forum titled “Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa” at Pischa Congress Centre. This event will focus on leveraging the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Digital Trade Protocol to advance Africa’s digital economy and private sector growth.
  5. Stakeholder Dialogue on Global Risks
    The Vice President will participate as a panelist in the dialogue “Global Risks 2025” at the Aspen 2 Congress Centre. This session will address the rising geopolitical, technological, and environmental challenges highlighted in the Global Risks Report.

Delegation and Return

Shettima will be accompanied by prominent officials, including Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, and Aisha Rimi, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC).

The Vice President is expected to return to Abuja after the conclusion of the summit.
