4 RESIDENTS KILLED AS BANDITS LAUNCH FRESH ATTACK IN ZAMFARA

Bandit Attacks in Zamfara Kill at Least Four in Wuyya Village

At least four people have been killed following a fresh bandit attack on Wuyya village in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The gunmen reportedly stormed the community on Sunday evening, opening fire on residents and leaving four dead. Security analyst and conflict tracker Bakatsine confirmed the incident on Monday, noting that the victims were buried the same morning according to Islamic rites, as grief and fear continue to grip the community.

“Last night, bandits attacked Wuyya village in Anka LGA, Zamfara State, killing four residents,” Bakatsine said. “The victims have been buried according to Islamic rites, and mourning is ongoing amid growing concern over worsening insecurity.”

The attack comes just hours after another violent incident in Zurmi Local Government Area, where four people were killed and several travelers were allegedly abducted. According to Bakatsine, three of the victims were farmers, including two from Zurmi town and one from a nearby village.

Security concerns escalated further with a reported attack on Baichen Dauran community in the same LGA, leaving one person dead. Travelers along a nearby road were also allegedly kidnapped, including a commercial driver, Kabiru Takaye, from Zurmi.

These recent attacks have highlighted the persistent insecurity in Zamfara State, where armed groups continue to terrorize rural communities despite ongoing military operations. Residents have expressed frustration over the lack of lasting protection, questioning the effectiveness of current security measures.

Zamfara and neighbouring Katsina states have become major hotspots for terrorist attacks, kidnappings, and cattle rustling in recent years, with rural communities bearing the brunt of repeated assaults.
