President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently holding a meeting with the Asagba of Asaba, Delta State, Obi Professor Epiphany Azinge, SAN, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The first-class monarch arrived at the meeting accompanied by several royal fathers, believed to be members of the Obi-in-Council.
This meeting follows growing tensions in parts of the South-South region after President Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State. The declaration led to the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and the entire state House of Assembly for six months. Additionally, former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, was appointed as the sole administrator to oversee the state during this period.
Obi Professor Epiphany Azinge, who was crowned as the 14th Asagba of Asaba on August 26, 2024, is expected to discuss regional concerns with the president.
Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Ibas officially assumed office on Thursday at the Rivers State Government House.
