Two Suspected Armed Robbers Arrested in Lagos Hotel Hideout

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and uncovered a Mushin hotel allegedly serving as a criminal hideout.

In a statement issued on Friday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said detectives spotted four suspected robbers around 10:00 a.m. that morning. While three managed to escape, a 21-year-old suspect was apprehended.

According to her, a search of his bag led to the recovery of a cut-to-size single-barrel gun, an English Barreter pistol with two live rounds, and another pistol with cartridges.

She added that the suspect confessed the gang had recently carried out a robbery in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, and had regrouped at the hotel in Mushin to plan their next move.

“Acting on intelligence, operatives raided the hotel and recovered a laptop, charms, suspected Indian hemp, hard drugs, and other incriminating items. Another suspect, aged 33, was arrested at the scene with a locally fabricated pistol. The hideout has since been permanently sealed off. The suspects and exhibits have been transferred to the command headquarters. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing gang members,” the statement read.

Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, commended the operatives for their professionalism during the operation. He also cautioned hotel owners to maintain proper records of their guests, warning that negligence could make their facilities vulnerable to criminal use.

The CP further reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging Lagos residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities.
