On October 16, 2025, Fasaki Olutayo Jacob, a 68-year-old retired civil servant, testified before Justice Sharon T. Ishaya at the Federal High Court in Jos, Plateau State, accusing Bishop Katung Jonas of Living Stone Assembly International (Maranatha Covenant Churches) and Okewole Dayo of defrauding him of N1.2 million through the Fadama Multi-purpose Cooperative Society. The defendants face 23 counts of obtaining money under false pretenses, totaling N178.885 million.

Jacob, the second prosecution witness, recounted being influenced by Bishop Katung’s sermon on Plateau Radio and Television, leading him to invest N1 million in 2011, followed by N200,000, at Dadin Kowa Microfinance Bank. Promised 10% monthly returns, payments ceased in 2012. Despite assurances from Katung and Dayo, including a public promise on PRTV and a meeting at Lamide Hotel, no refunds were made.

Aggrieved investors confronted Dayo, prompting police intervention, and the case was escalated to the EFCC. Katung offered a property sale to settle debts, but no payments materialized.
A receipt was admitted as Exhibit F. Under cross-examination, Jacob confirmed his EFCC statement’s accuracy and Katung’s influence via the broadcast. The trial is adjourned to December 10-11, 2025.
