A Federal High Court in Abuja has stopped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from conducting its 2025 National Convention, which was scheduled to take place in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15 and 16.

The court also barred the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from supervising, monitoring, or recognising the outcome of the convention if it proceeds.
The ruling was delivered by Justice Peter Lifu following an application filed by Sule Lamido, former governor of Jigawa State, who accused the party of denying him the chance to obtain the chairmanship nomination form.

This latest order comes after a similar court ruling on October 31, which also halted the PDP’s plans to hold its convention.
In that earlier judgment, Justice James Omotosho held that the PDP failed to conduct valid state congresses in line with the 1999 Constitution, INEC guidelines, and the party’s constitution — rendering the proposed national convention invalid.
