The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially issued certificates of return to Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his deputy, Onyekachukwu Ibezim.

The certificates were presented on Tuesday in Akwa by Kenneth Ikeagu, the Supervising INEC National Commissioner for the Anambra State election, two days after Soludo and Ibezim were declared winners of the November 8, 2025, governorship poll.
The issuance formally confirms their re-election as Governor and Deputy Governor of the state.

While presenting the certificates, Ikeagu said, “We are here to present the certificates of return to the Governor and Deputy Governor of Anambra State, following their success in the governorship election held on Saturday, November 8, 2025. Section 72(1) of the Electoral Act 2022 requires INEC to issue a certificate of return within 14 days to every candidate duly returned by the returning officer under the Act. In line with this provision, I have the honour, as Supervising National Electoral Commissioner, to present the certificates of return to the Governor and Deputy Governor-elect.”

Soludo, representing the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), defeated his rivals by a wide margin. He garnered 422,664 votes, while his closest contender, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), scored 99,445 votes. Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) came third with 37,753 votes.

INEC reported that 16 political parties participated in the election. Out of 2,788,864 registered voters, 598,229 were accredited, with 595,298 total votes cast and 11,244 rejected ballots across the state’s 21 local government areas. Soludo secured a clean sweep, winning in all 21 LGAs.
