The Army Chief’s assurance comes amid apprehension about the state of security in the country, especially following threats of military action by the United States President, Donald Trump.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has vowed that Nigerians will soon experience improved security across the country, assuring that the military’s ongoing operations are yielding encouraging results.
He made these comments while speaking with newsmen on Tuesday after briefing President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.

According to General Shaibu, his assessment of recent security operations, particularly following his visit to the Northeast, showed encouraging progress.
He explained that his briefing to the President focused on the outcome of his operational tour of the Northeast theatre as well as an assessment of the broader security situation nationwide.
“I came to brief him on the outcome of my visit to the Northeast region and then look at other security situations across the country, which was satisfactory within this period,” he said.
On what Nigerians should expect in the coming weeks, the Army Chief confidently stated that they should look out for improved security across the country.

According to Shaibu, the overall security situation within the period under review remained satisfactory, noting that the improvement was due to stronger coordination among security agencies and sustained pressure on criminal networks.
There have been apprehension and mixed reactions in recent times after the United States President, Donald Trump, vowed military action in the country over alleged genocide against Christians—a claim the Nigerian government continues to deny.
