The former Duke of York had previously held the style of His Royal Highness, the dukedom, and his princely title, all of which were revoked due to his association with the convicted offender Jeffrey Epstein.
During the visit to Windsor Castle after this formal demotion, it became apparent that the familiar courtesies extended by Palace staff were no longer observed. The headlinenews, through journalist Abdulafis, reported that the customary bows previously given at every encounter had vanished, with some staff openly addressing him as Mr Mountbatten-Windsor rather than using the title of His Royal Highness, which had been expected throughout his life.
