JUST IN: Lakurawa terrorists kill 3 immigration officers in Kebbi

“The Lakurawa terrorists’ latest Kebbi attack, killing immigration officers, shows current measures fail. Nigeria must urgently adopt stronger aerial warfare strategies to confront escalating provocation and decisively protect communities now.”

Suspected members of the Lakurawa terrorist group have attacked a Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) checkpoint in Bakin Ruwa, along the Maje border in Bagudo Local Government Area, Kebbi State, leaving three officers dead.

The midnight assault on Wednesday has sparked fear among residents of nearby border communities. Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers struck under the cover of darkness, opening fire on officers, setting a vehicle on fire, and destroying the checkpoint shelter before escaping.

One of the victims has been identified as Assistant Superintendent of Immigration Jerry Ande from Benue State, while the identities of the two other officers, who were Inspectors of Immigration, have not yet been released.

As of now, the Kebbi State Police Command and the Nigeria Immigration Service have not officially confirmed the attack.

This incident comes just three weeks after a Nigeria Customs Service officer was killed in a similar attack in the state, where the assailants also burned down the camp and destroyed several official vehicles along the Maje border axis.

The Lakurawa group has been linked to numerous violent attacks across parts of Kebbi State, targeting both security personnel and civilians. However, the motive behind this latest assault has not yet been determined, raising concerns over escalating insecurity along the Nigeria–Benin border corridor.
