HE SHOULD BE HANGED’: OSHIOMHOLE CELEBRATES FAROUQ AHMED ’s S EXIT AS NMDPRA BOSS .

Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North, has called for the death penalty for Farouk Ahmed, the former CEO of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

Oshiomhole made the statement during the screening of Saidu Aliyu Mohammed, President Tinubu’s nominee for the new NMDPRA leadership, where he criticized the state of Nigeria’s oil sector.

This comes after President Tinubu summoned Ahmed to the Presidential Villa in Abuja over allegations of corruption and economic sabotage. Earlier, Dangote Group chairman Aliko Dangote accused Ahmed of involvement in multimillion-dollar corrupt activities. At a press briefing at Dangote Petroleum Refinery, Dangote alleged that Ahmed and the NMDPRA leadership had been working with international traders and oil importers to undermine local refining by continuing to issue import licenses for petroleum products. He also noted that Ahmed was living extravagantly, including sending four of his children to Swiss secondary schools at enormous costs.

Oshiomhole praised President Tinubu for removing Ahmed from office, describing his tenure as shameful. The senator went further, saying that anyone who blocks local job creation while favoring importation “doesn’t deserve to live,” adding that if Ahmed were not punished, it would be a national failure.

The resignation of Ahmed has sparked divided opinions—some see it as a positive step, while others believe it reflects elite infighting rather than genuine concern for Nigerians.

Do you think Farouk Ahmed should face such a severe punishment, as suggested by Senator Oshiomhole? Share your thoughts in the comments.
