House Committee Vows Swift Report on Alleged Tax Reform Discrepancies
The House of Representatives’ ad-hoc committee investigating alleged inconsistencies in the gazetted Tax Reform Acts has pledged to complete its work and submit its findings to the House as quickly as possible.

Chaired by Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara, the committee held its first meeting on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, to address a Privilege Matter raised during plenary regarding differences between the National Assembly-passed laws and their officially gazetted versions.
During the session, members agreed to expedite the investigation and ensure the report is presented promptly, emphasizing the need to maintain legislative integrity, due process, and public trust in the lawmaking process.

Chairman Betara, reaffirming the committee’s commitment to transparency, stated on Wednesday that the findings and recommendations would be delivered immediately upon completion of the probe.
The ad-hoc panel was established to ensure that tax reform legislation aligns fully with constitutional requirements and legislative standards, providing clarity and accuracy between enacted laws and their gazetted versions.
