WIKE THREATENS TO REVEAL DETAILS OF AGREEMENT WITH FUBARA

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has warned that he will publicly disclose the agreement he reached with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, in the presence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, if the governor fails to make it known to the people of the state.

Wike gave the warning on Wednesday during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.

He said the political risks he took at the national level had produced positive outcomes, contrasting this with developments in Rivers State.

According to him, President Tinubu fulfilled his commitments, noting that his appointment as FCT Minister and the appointment of several Rivers indigenes into strategic federal positions showed the gains the state had made under the current administration.

“If he does not tell the Rivers people the agreement we had before Mr. President, I will tell them myself,” Wike said.

The former Rivers governor also cautioned politicians from outside the state against interfering in Rivers politics, stressing that only those familiar with the state’s political terrain should be involved.

“If you do not understand the politics of Rivers State, sit at home. Nobody will intimidate us. Before, when the federal government was against us, we won. Now that the federal government is friendly with us, we will win more,” he said.

Wike explained that his visit to Eleme was to appreciate the people for their long-standing support, adding that backing President Tinubu had yielded positive results.

He urged the people of Eleme to continue supporting President Tinubu and their political leaders as a new political season approaches.

Also speaking at the event, a former senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District, Olaka Nwogu, praised Wike for the visit and assured him of the full support of the Eleme people. He commended Wike for attracting development projects to the area and appointing Eleme indigenes into key positions.

“We voted for Governor Sim Fubara because Wike directed us to do so. Since Wike left office, no major project has been attracted to Eleme. Whatever he says, we stand by him,” Nwogu said, adding that Wike had been betrayed.

A member of the Rivers State House of Assembly representing Eleme Constituency, Aforji Igwe, described Wike as a leader who promoted fairness ahead of the 2023 governorship election.

He said Wike resisted pressure to retain the governorship within Ikwerre and instead supported a riverine candidate in the interest of equity. Igwe assured him of the continued backing of riverine lawmakers in the Assembly.

The Chairman of Eleme Local Government Area, Obarilomate Ollor, described Wike as a leader who delivered development across Eleme and Rivers State, highlighting projects executed during his tenure and pledging the council’s support for President Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

Other political leaders also pledged loyalty

to Wike and vowed to align with his political direction.

The meeting, which drew leaders from different political parties, also witnessed the return of some individuals who had previously withdrawn from the political fold.

The event concluded with the presentation of a plaque to the FCT Minister in recognition of his contributions to the development of Eleme Local Government Area.
