Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has disclosed that several influential figures within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including known allies of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have decided to support President Bola Tinubu.
Those mentioned include former PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus; former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Austin Opara; former Rivers State governor, Celestine Omehia; and former Minister of Transport, Abiye Sekibo.

Fubara made this known on Thursday during the New Year banquet hosted by the Rivers State Government at the Banquet Hall of Government House in Port Harcourt.
According to him, the presence of these political heavyweights at the event puts to rest insinuations and accusations that he was aligning with individuals working against the President’s interests.
The governor stated that he remains steadfast despite political pressures, stressing that his confidence is rooted in his faith in God, which continues to strengthen him.
He explained that it is on this foundation that the objectives of governance in Rivers State will be fully achieved.

Fubara said he was not “barking,” noting that he understands the political landscape and has already put structures in place to successfully navigate challenges and deliver on his administration’s mandate.
He added that those who lack proper understanding, referencing Julius Caesar, are the ones who resort to “barking” when they cannot correctly interpret unfolding developments.
The governor expressed optimism that 2026 would mark what he described as “complete liberation” for Rivers State, assuring residents that all the goals set by his administration would be realised.
He also said that those who have stood by him would, in the end, feel fulfilled and proud of their decisions, standing tall with confidence.
Fubara further noted that although his administration has faced numerous challenges, those experiences have only made him stronger, adding that battles he could not fight eventually strengthened his resolve.

He maintained that he has lost nothing and that it is only a matter of time before everything is restored.
The governor assured that his administration would never force anyone to do what is wrong, stressing that he harbours no fear.
According to him, he believes that when the time is right, every necessary bridge will be crossed.
