The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced plans to deport at least 79 convicted Nigerians identified on its “worst-of-the-worst” criminal list.
According to findings on the DHS website, the Nigerians on the list were convicted of offences including fraud, drug trafficking, assault, manslaughter, and robbery. The announcement is part of the U.S. government’s intensified crackdown on criminal and illegal immigrants.

The DHS note stated, “Under Secretary Noem’s leadership, the hardworking men and women of DHS and ICE are fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations, starting with the worst of the worst, including the illegal aliens you see here.”
The deportation list includes Nigerians such as Boluwaji Akingunsoye, Ejike Asiegbunam, Emmanuel Mayegun Adeola, Bamidele Bolatiwa, Ifeanyi Nwaozomudoh, Aderemi Akefe, Solomon Wilfred, Chibundu Anuebunwa, Joshua Ineh, Usman Momoh, Oluwole Odunowo, Bolarinwa Salau, Oriyomi Aloba, and many others.

The move has triggered anxiety among Nigerians living in the United States, with reports of some going into hiding while others are returning home quietly amid the intensified enforcement campaign led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The deportation operations, which include house-to-house enforcement raids, have generated widespread debate and protest, particularly following a series of high-profile and sometimes deadly incidents involving federal immigration officers.

This latest action underscores the Trump administration’s continued focus on removing criminal and illegal immigrants from the United States, with Nigerians among those most affected by the policy.
