Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has dismissed speculation about a potential defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that any decision regarding his political alignment will reflect the collective will of the people.

Speaking to journalists, the governor said leadership is fundamentally about service and that he would follow whatever choice aligns with the wishes of Adamawa residents.
“There are many rumours about whether I will join the APC. If that is the wish of my people, I will not oppose it because politics is about serving the people,” Fintiri said.

He also called out political opportunists, describing them as “treacherous and afraid,” while affirming his commitment to delivering value, prosperity, and strength to the state.

The governor highlighted strong grassroots support for his administration, attributing it to sustained investment in development, infrastructure, and human capital. “Adamawa is secure because we have built real connections through development. If my people say I should remain, I will stay, and I will win,” he said.

Fintiri reaffirmed that performance in office remains the key measure of political relevance, insisting that delivering tangible benefits to citizens remains his overriding priority.

“Wherever we go, the most important thing is what we have delivered to the people, and we are going to win,” he added.
