Fear and uncertainty have taken hold of several communities in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, as residents flee their homes following a wave of violent bandit attacks.
In towns like Oke Oyan, Oro-Ago, Oyate, and Ahun, many families are leaving in haste, packing their belongings into cars, motorcycles, and any available means of transport. Others have been seen waiting by the roadside, hoping to find a way out to safer areas.
Residents say the attacks have become more frequent and dangerous in recent weeks, making it nearly impossible to live normal lives. One local described the situation as unbearable, noting that people can no longer go to their farms or sleep peacefully at night.

According to eyewitness accounts, the attackers often strike after dark, breaking into homes, stealing valuables, and threatening villagers. The fear of sudden night raids has pushed many to abandon their homes entirely.
Reports indicate that at least 2,000 people have already fled the affected communities, with many relocating to nearby towns. Others are still making arrangements to leave as quickly as possible.
The violence has been deadly. In earlier attacks, gunmen reportedly killed four people and abducted 10 others across Oyate, Ahun, and Oro-Ago. In a more recent incident in Oro-Ago, two people were killed and the local security chief, known as the Olu-Ode, was injured during an evening нападение that sent shockwaves through the community.

Residents say the situation has reached a breaking point, with many calling for urgent government intervention. Some have directly appealed to authorities to deploy security forces, insisting that their communities are no longer safe.
A police officer in the area confirmed that people are indeed fleeing but assured that security agencies are stepping up efforts to tackle the attacks and restore order.
For now, tension remains high, and many families are choosing safety over staying behind, uncertain of when peace will return to their communities.
