STOP BLAMING US FOR YOUR INTERNAL SQUABBLES, YILWATDA, BASIRU TELL ADC, PDP

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected allegations from opposition parties that it is responsible for internal crises within their ranks, describing the claims as baseless and a distraction from their own organisational challenges.

Speaking during a nationwide television interview, the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, alongside National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru, said the ruling party remains focused on implementing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda while opposition parties deal with internal disputes.

Yilwatda said political parties must take responsibility for their internal processes, insisting that issues within other parties should not be linked to the APC.

He added that effective party management depends on adherence to internal structures and democratic procedures, noting that instability in other political parties reflects organisational weaknesses rather than external influence.

Senator Basiru also maintained that only a small number of registered political parties are currently experiencing internal disagreements, stressing that democracy requires discipline and respect for due process.

He cautioned opposition leaders against violating court directives, referencing cases where party conventions were allegedly conducted against existing legal orders.

Basiru further argued that the APC cannot be blamed for the legal or administrative errors of other parties, questioning claims that the presidency interferes in opposition affairs.

He also recalled that the APC previously faced consequences for similar infractions in past elections, adding that the party learned from those experiences.

On security, the APC leadership said efforts under the current administration have led to the prosecution of hundreds of suspects linked to insecurity, while urging Nigerians to focus on solutions rather than politicising national security challenges.

Basiru also called for police reforms, noting that Nigeria’s current policing structure is inadequate for the country’s size and requires decentralisation for improved effectiveness.

On the economy, the party acknowledged ongoing hardship linked to reforms but insisted that macroeconomic indicators are improving, citing rising revenue figures and GDP growth.

The leadership maintained that while citizens may still feel economic pressure, structural reforms are necessary to achieve long-term stability and development.

The APC reaffirmed its commitment to national governance and said it would not be distracted by opposition criticism as it continues implementing federal policies.
