Atiku Abubakar has come under sharp criticism from the Presidency following his recent television appearance, with officials describing his 2027 presidential ambition as “dead on arrival.”
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, reacted via his verified X account, arguing that the former vice president’s interview failed to demonstrate clarity of vision, policy direction, or leadership readiness.

According to him, the broadcast reflected inconsistencies and a lack of substantive proposals, especially at a time when the country is undergoing significant economic reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He noted that Atiku did not present any clear alternative framework or actionable roadmap during the interview.

The presidential aide further stated that the remarks made during the interview appeared more focused on personal ambition than national development, adding that the presentation lacked unity and a sense of coalition-building.
He also criticised the tone of the interview, describing it as dominated by grievances rather than constructive engagement, and argued that such an approach does not reflect the qualities expected of national leadership.

Sunday Dare maintained that many Nigerians who watched the interview were left unconvinced, insisting that it highlighted weaknesses in messaging and political positioning ahead of the 2027 elections.
He concluded that Atiku is gradually losing political relevance due to his public outings, rather than being denied it.
