STOP BLAMING US FOR YOUR INTERNAL SQUABBLES, YILWATDA, BASIRU TELL ADC, PDP

Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside the party’s National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, has dismissed claims that the ruling party is responsible for the internal crises affecting opposition parties, describing such allegations as baseless.

The APC leadership made this position known during a nationwide television interview, where they maintained that political parties must take full responsibility for their internal structures and organisational decisions.

Yilwatda said the APC remains focused on implementing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, while opposition parties such as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) continue to struggle with internal disputes.

He stressed that challenges within other parties should not be attributed to external interference, but rather to weaknesses in internal management and adherence to democratic processes.

On his part, Basiru argued that most registered political parties in the country are not facing internal problems, insisting that only a few are affected due to what he described as organisational lapses.

He also cautioned opposition leaders against disregarding court directives in their internal affairs, referencing situations where legal rulings were allegedly ignored during party conventions.

The APC leaders further recalled past electoral setbacks experienced by the party in states like Zamfara and Rivers in 2019, noting that those experiences reinforced the importance of respecting legal and procedural guidelines.

On national security, they highlighted recent prosecutions of individuals linked to insecurity and called for greater focus on practical solutions rather than politicising security challenges.

They also advocated for reforms in policing structure, including decentralisation, to improve efficiency across the country.

On the economy, the party leadership acknowledged the hardship caused by ongoing reforms but maintained that key economic indicators are improving, citing rising GDP growth and increased revenue performance.

They reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to delivering national reforms under a unified political agenda, while urging focus on governance rather than political distractions.
