Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has alleged that his exits from both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) were not voluntary, claiming he was pushed out due to internal political conflicts.

Amaechi made the remarks during a live interview on Channels Television, where he discussed his political journey across multiple parties, including his current affiliation with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He alleged that former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife played a role in his removal from the PDP, stating that the political structure in Rivers State was taken over and he was effectively forced out.

According to him, similar political tensions also led to his departure from the APC, although he did not directly name those responsible for that exit.
Amaechi maintained that his political struggles were tied to his position as Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, which he said made him a target during internal party disputes.
He explained that his movement between parties was not driven by personal ambition but by disagreements over governance style and political fairness.

The former minister also criticised aspects of national leadership, arguing that Nigeria requires inclusive governance that reflects its ethnic and religious diversity.
He warned that exclusion of certain groups could worsen national tensions and deepen calls for separation in some regions.

Amaechi further stated that his outspoken nature often attracts political backlash, insisting he speaks out whenever he perceives injustice.
