TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED BOKO HARAM INFORMANT AT YOBE AIRPORT

Troops under Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a man suspected of working as an informant for terrorist groups at the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport.

Security sources say the arrest happened early in the morning on April 23, around 5:30 a.m., when soldiers from Sector 2 were on duty at the airport. The man reportedly caught their attention after he was seen behaving suspiciously close to a military area.

When he was first questioned, the suspect refused to give any useful information, which raised further concerns. He was then taken into custody and later handed over to a military intelligence unit for deeper investigation.

Although the overall security situation in the region is said to be relatively calm at the moment, officials warned that things can still change quickly. They also noted that troops remain motivated and ready to respond to any threats.

This arrest comes just weeks after two other suspected informants linked to Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province were captured in Damboa Local Government Area.

Nigeria has been dealing with insurgency for over a decade, with the conflict causing thousands of deaths and forcing millions of people to leave their homes.
