A Niger Delta All Progressives Congress chieftain, Promise Lawuru, popularly known as ‘Ozigizaga,’ on Tuesday picked up his expression of interest and nomination forms under the APC to contest for the House of Representatives seat in the 2027 general elections.

By picking up the nomination form, Lawuru vowed to end the third-term ambition of the incumbent, Thomas Erheyitomi, who has occupied the seat since 2019.
Vincent Oruofor, a member of the Warri Federal Constituency Peoples Forum, which has been at the forefront of the pressure on Lawuru to run, maintained that “by obtaining the nomination form, Lawuru has made a statement.”
“This is not just about a form; it is about a liberation movement,” he said, arguing that “the constituency has grown weary of the status quo and is hungry for the vibrant, accessible and acceptable leadership that the Ozigizaga brand represents.”

“The act of purchasing the form confirms Lawuru’s resolve to dismantle what critics call a docile representation and replace it with proactive governance,” Oruofor stated.
Another member of the group, Josiah Omonigho, said that “Lawuru is being hailed for his ability to transcend tribal lines, a crucial factor in the often-complex Warri political theatre.”

“His long history of humanitarian work and grassroots mobilisation has earned him a massive following, particularly among women and the younger generation,” Omonigho further said, adding that the “Youth O’Clock” mantra is already gaining traction.
