The training, organised by Nexgen Energy Hub in partnership with its Chinese technical partners, Techfine, focused on strengthening collaboration within the renewable energy space and addressing challenges affecting service providers and consumers.

Speaking at the event, the Head of Technical Department at Nexgen Energy, Noah Ojo, said renewable energy remains a key solution to Nigeria’s ongoing electricity challenges. He explained that the gathering was aimed at identifying the difficulties faced by stakeholders and finding practical solutions to improve efficiency in the sector.

He noted that the growing demand for alternative power sources in the country has placed significant pressure on industry players, making support and capacity building essential for sustainable growth.

A representative from Techspace Energy, Taiwo Igbasan, said the training helped participants better understand available renewable energy products and how to properly select equipment suitable for different installation needs. He also highlighted the rapid growth of the sector and called for stronger regulation to ensure quality control in imported products.

Another participant, Odekanmi Oluwadamilare of Dretech Energy, praised the initiative, saying it improved his understanding of new technologies and product compatibility, especially between inverters and batteries. However, he raised concerns about the presence of untrained installers in the industry, warning that poor installations could cause damage to property.

From Nexgen Energy, Kemi Aiyekitan explained that the company has significantly improved product availability, communication, and quality over the past year, responding to feedback from partners and dealers. She added that continuous improvement remains a key focus.

Similarly, Operations Manager Olawunmi Akande said the training was designed to connect dealers directly with manufacturers, allowing for better communication, knowledge sharing, and product development aligned with market needs.

Overall, stakeholders agreed that the renewable energy sector in Nigeria is experiencing rapid growth, but requires stronger collaboration, improved training, and better regulation to ensure safety, quality, and long-term sustainability.
