A former Senior Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Bayo Orebiyi, has been selected as the consensus candidate for the Yewa South Constituency seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly ahead of the upcoming party primaries and the 2027 general elections.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Zonal Information Officer for Yewa Division, Mr Lateef Akintunde, the decision followed extensive consultations among key stakeholders and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yewa South Local Government Area.
Party leaders reportedly agreed unanimously to adopt Orebiyi as the preferred candidate, describing the move as a reflection of unity and internal cohesion within the party.

Stakeholders said the consensus arrangement was aimed at strengthening the party’s chances of victory in the constituency during the 2027 general elections.
One party leader, Mufutau Ajibola, said Orebiyi was chosen based on his experience in governance, loyalty to the party, and familiarity with grassroots political structures.
Other stakeholders, including government and party officials, noted that the decision aligns with the APC’s internal conflict resolution mechanisms and efforts to promote unity among members.

They expressed confidence that his candidacy would consolidate support across wards and enhance the party’s electoral performance in the state.
In his acceptance remarks, Orebiyi expressed appreciation to party leaders and supporters for the confidence placed in him, promising to deliver effective representation if elected.

He also called on other aspirants and party members to unite and work towards the success of the APC in both the constituency and the wider state.
The consensus arrangement is expected to reduce internal tension ahead of the primaries and strengthen the party’s position going into the 2027 elections.
