FCMB Group Plc has announced the appointment of Adepeju Adebajo as an Independent Non-Executive Director, following approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the financial institution on Thursday.

According to the statement, Adebajo joins the board at a time when the group is seeking to deepen its expansion strategy within Nigeria’s financial services sector and strengthen its governance structure.
She brings over 30 years of professional experience spanning renewable energy, agriculture, finance, consulting, and corporate leadership across Africa and international markets.
The Board of Directors said her appointment aligns with FCMB Group’s long-term vision of strengthening leadership capacity, enhancing innovation, and promoting sustainable business practices.

It noted that her expertise in strategy development, business transformation, operational efficiency, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) implementation would support the group’s growth objectives.
Adebajo’s academic background includes studies at Harvard Business School and Imperial College London. She has previously held leadership positions in organisations such as Lafarge Africa, Lumos Nigeria, and Mouka Limited, and also served as Commissioner for Agriculture in Ogun State.

She is also recognised for her work in climate governance and sustainability, including founding the Climate Governance Initiative Nigeria and serving on global advisory platforms focused on environmental policy.
The board further highlighted her international experience, including advisory and consulting roles in global institutions such as Citibank and Boston Consulting Group.

She currently chairs the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund and serves on several international boards, including Ibstock Plc in the United Kingdom.
FCMB Group stated that her appointment is expected to strengthen its leadership depth and support its long-term commitment to sustainability, innovation, and inclusive growth in Nigeria’s financial sector.
