Aliko Dangote retained his long-standing position as Africa’s richest man, with an estimated net worth of $34.9 billion, placing him 67th globally. His fortune continues to be driven by massive investments across cement, sugar, flour, and oil refining through the Dangote Group, which remains one of the most influential business empires on the continent.

Close behind, South African luxury magnate Johann Rupert ranked as Africa’s second-richest individual with about $18.9 billion, securing the 144th global position.

In a significant leap, Abdul Samad Rabiu emerged as Africa’s third-richest billionaire, with an estimated fortune of $18.5 billion, ranking 152nd globally. His wealth surge was largely driven by strong performance across cement, food processing, and manufacturing operations under the BUA Group.

Bloomberg data showed Rabiu recorded one of the strongest wealth gains globally in 2026, with his fortune rising by over $8.47 billion year-to-date, reflecting aggressive expansion in Nigeria’s industrial and consumer sectors.

The report further highlighted that Dangote’s wealth also rose by about $4.38 billion within the year, reinforcing his dominance as Africa’s most valuable industrial entrepreneur.

Despite the strong showing by Nigerian billionaires, no other Nigerian made it into the world’s top 500 richest individuals, while global rankings continued to be led overwhelmingly by U.S. technology and investment moguls, with Elon Musk topping the list.

Other African billionaires such as Mike Adenuga and Femi Otedola were absent from the latest global top-tier ranking.

The update underscores a growing concentration of wealth among industrial and manufacturing sectors in Africa, particularly in Nigeria and South Africa, where large-scale production and infrastructure-linked businesses continue to drive billionaire fortunes.
