Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have arrested a suspected bandit during a snap checkpoint operation in Birnin Gwari, recovering an AK-47 magazine, mobile phones and other items from the suspect.
According to reports by counter-insurgency publication Zagazola Makama, the suspect was arrested around 6:04 p.m. on May 8 by troops of 2 Battalion stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Dogon Dawa.
The troops had mounted a surprise roadblock at the Damari area of Birnin Gwari when they intercepted the suspect riding a motorcycle.

The suspect was identified as Ibrahim Adamu, aged 32.
Security sources disclosed that troops recovered one AK-47 rifle magazine, three mobile phones, Indian hemp and other personal belongings during a search conducted on him.
Preliminary investigations reportedly uncovered several incriminating photographs on the suspect’s mobile phones, allegedly showing him dressed in military-style attire and posing with a PKT machine gun alongside other suspected bandits.
The suspect and the recovered items were immediately transferred to the battalion headquarters for further investigation.
Military authorities said the security situation in the area remains calm but unpredictable, adding that surveillance and monitoring operations have been intensified across the axis.
