​FIRST BANK ELEVATES JULIUS OMODAYO-OWOTUGA TO EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

First HoldCo Plc has appointed Dr Julius B. Omodayo-Owotuga as Executive Director, following approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The appointment was disclosed in a notice filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited on Thursday and signed by the company secretary, Abiola Baruwa.

According to the statement, Omodayo-Owotuga is expected to strengthen the bank’s leadership in key areas including strategic finance, governance, risk management and institutional transformation.

The company described his appointment as part of its commitment to strong corporate governance, financial resilience and sustainable long-term growth.

“Dr Julius B. Omodayo-Owotuga brings twenty-four years of experience spanning banking and financial services, infrastructure finance, power, oil and gas, as well as audit and consulting,” the statement said.

Before his latest appointment, he served as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of First HoldCo Plc between 2021 and 2026.

Omodayo-Owotuga previously worked as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Geregu Power Plc, where he played a major role in governance restructuring, operational optimisation and the company’s listing on the Nigerian Exchange.

He also served as Group Executive Director for Finance and Risk Management at Forte Oil Plc, now Ardova Plc, leading several financial restructuring and capital raising initiatives.

His career experience also includes roles at Africa Finance Corporation, Standard Chartered Bank, KPMG Professional Services and MBC International Bank.

Omodayo-Owotuga is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, and the Institute of Credit Administration.

He holds a doctorate degree in Business Administration, an MBA, and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He is also an alumnus of global institutions including the University of Oxford and IE Business School.
