Aiyedatiwa Approves Health Insurance, Pension Scheme for Ondo Amotekun Operatives
The Ondo State Government has approved a new welfare package for personnel of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, as part of efforts to strengthen security operations and improve the welfare of officers across the state.
The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Ajanaku, said the initiative was designed to boost the morale of operatives and encourage greater commitment in protecting lives and property.
According to him, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa approved the inclusion of Amotekun personnel in the Ondo State Contributory Health Insurance Scheme, giving officers and their families access to quality healthcare services.
Ajanaku explained that the move reflects the administration’s determination to improve the wellbeing and productivity of personnel involved in frontline security operations.
The governor also approved the issuance of Warrants of Service Enlistment to officers and personnel, pending the completion of the necessary legal procedures.
The commissioner said the decision would further strengthen the operational structure of the corps and enhance its effectiveness across the state.
He added that operatives would now benefit from the Contributory Pension Scheme and the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund alongside the existing life insurance policy already in place.
According to Ajanaku, the welfare package demonstrates the government’s recognition of the sacrifices and dedication of Amotekun operatives in maintaining peace and security in Ondo State.
Speaking on security arrangements ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, he disclosed that 650 operatives had been deployed across the 18 local government areas of the state to ensure adequate security before, during, and after the festivities.
He assured residents that the government remained committed to proactive measures aimed at sustaining peace and public safety.
The commissioner also revealed that the Ondo State Security Network Agency recently arrested 98 suspected criminals, including individuals allegedly disguising as mentally unstable persons while engaging in kidnapping and robbery activities.
He said the arrests highlight the agency’s resolve to tackle criminal activities and strengthen public confidence in the state’s security architecture.
