Tinubu Swears In Tegbe, Enikanolaiye as New Ministers
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially sworn in Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as the new Minister of Power and Sola Enikanolaiye as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The inauguration ceremony took place on Monday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, with family members, senior government officials and other invited guests in attendance.
The appointments followed recent changes in the Federal Executive Council after former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, stepped down from their positions to pursue governorship ambitions in their respective states.
Following their resignations, President Tinubu nominated Tegbe and Enikanolaiye to fill the vacant positions. Both nominees were screened and confirmed by the Senate on May 6, 2026, paving the way for their assumption of office.
Tegbe, an indigene of Ibadan in Oyo State, brings more than three decades of experience in economic management, public sector reforms and institutional development. Over a career spanning 35 years, he has worked across both the public and private sectors, earning recognition for his expertise in policy implementation, strategic planning and stakeholder engagement.

Enikanolaiye, who hails from Igbagun in Kogi State, is a seasoned diplomat with an impressive academic background. He graduated with a First Class degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, where he emerged as the best graduating student in his faculty. He later obtained a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from University of Lagos with distinction.
Before his appointment, Enikanolaiye served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations in the Office of the Chief of Staff.
Throughout his diplomatic career, he represented Nigeria in several countries and international missions, with postings in Ethiopia, Serbia, Canada and United Kingdom. He also served as Nigeria’s Head of Mission in New Delhi before returning to take up responsibilities within the Presidency.
The swearing-in marks the beginning of a new phase for both ministries as the administration seeks to strengthen power sector reforms and deepen Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement on the global stage.
