AfriGO, Nigeria’s domestic card scheme, has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding financial inclusion across the country through innovative digital payment solutions and new product offerings designed to increase access to formal financial services.

The organisation made this known in a statement on Sunday following its strong participation at the Digital Pay Expo 2026 held at the Landmark Centre in Lagos, where key players in Nigeria’s financial ecosystem gathered, including banks, fintech firms, payment processors, and infrastructure providers.
AfriGO used the platform to highlight its growing role in shaping Nigeria’s domestic payments system and advancing nationwide financial inclusion efforts.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Director and Chief Commercial Officer of AfriGO, Ugo Obasi, described the initiative’s journey as one driven by innovation and a strong belief in Nigeria’s ability to build its own payment infrastructure.
He noted that AfriGO is developing several products, including Cowry Terminal Payment Cards, a loyalty platform, the AfriGO-BOA Card Initiative, virtual cards, and a tokenisation system aimed at improving digital transactions.

According to him, these solutions are designed to serve Nigerians across all sectors, from rural farmers to urban entrepreneurs, while strengthening locally owned financial technology infrastructure.

AfriGO also showcased its products at an exhibition booth during the event, attracting engagement from financial institutions, merchants, and technology partners exploring potential collaborations.
The company said its participation in the expo reflects its broader goal of expanding partnerships and strengthening Nigeria’s digital payment ecosystem to support wider financial inclusion.
