UAE EXPANDS VISA-ON-ARRIVAL POLICY, OPENS DOORS TO CITIZENS OF SIX MORE NATIONS

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has broadened its visa-on-arrival programme by extending eligibility to citizens of six additional countries, making travel to the Gulf nation easier for more international visitors.

Under the new policy, ordinary passport holders from Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya, and South Africa, along with their accompanying family members, can now obtain a visa upon arrival in the UAE. However, applicants must also possess a valid residence permit from one of the following jurisdictions: the United States, United Kingdom, any European Union member state, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, or Canada.

Eligible travellers can choose between a 14-day or 60-day visa-on-arrival, depending on their travel needs. The 14-day visa may be extended once while the visitor is in the UAE, whereas the 60-day visa is valid for a single stay and cannot be extended. Authorities warned that anyone who remains beyond the authorised period will incur an overstay fine of AED 50 per day.

According to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the expanded programme reflects the country’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties with partner nations while making travel more accessible for tourists, business professionals, investors, and skilled talent.

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) said the updated policy aligns with the UAE’s efforts to modernise its immigration system, simplify travel procedures, and reinforce the country’s position as a leading global destination for tourism, business, and investment.

The revised visa-on-arrival scheme took effect on June 25, 2026, further enhancing the UAE’s appeal as an international hub for travel and commerce.
