START SELLING AKARA, KULI-KULI TO CURB HARDSHIP — REMI TINUBU TELLS NIGERIANS

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, has encouraged citizens facing economic difficulties to consider starting small businesses such as selling akara, roasting corn and producing kuli-kuli as a means of earning a sustainable income.

Speaking after meeting with the wives of the 36 state governors in Abuja, the First Lady said her office has continued to empower vulnerable Nigerians through grants aimed at helping them establish small businesses without the obligation of repayment.

She explained that ventures like akara sales, roasted corn and kuli-kuli production require little capital, making them suitable options for many Nigerians seeking financial independence.

According to Senator Tinubu, her office has deliberately chosen to provide grants instead of loans in order to reduce financial pressure on beneficiaries while encouraging entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

She also highlighted several interventions her office has supported in the health sector, including ₦2 billion for tuberculosis control, ₦1 billion for breast cancer programmes and ₦500 million to address food malnutrition.

The First Lady added that her initiatives have extended to agriculture, education, social investment, scholarships and digital skills development through collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

She urged Nigerians not to lose hope despite the country’s economic challenges, stressing that citizens should remain optimistic and continue believing in a better future under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
