STAKEHOLDERS HAIL OYEDELE FOR REVIVING INVESTOR TRUST IN NIGERIA’S FINANCE ARCHITECTURE

Stakeholders across Nigeria’s financial and business sectors have praised the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, for restoring confidence in the Federal Ministry of Finance through reforms aimed at strengthening fiscal management and economic coordination.

Representatives from the organised private sector, professional associations and the investment community said the ministry has experienced significant progress under Oyedele’s leadership, pointing to improved engagement with stakeholders, better policy coordination and increased transparency in the management of the nation’s economy.

They noted that the ministry’s renewed direction marks a departure from previous years, when fiscal policies were often criticised for poor coordination, inadequate communication and limited consultation with key economic stakeholders.

The President of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), Mr. Samuel Agbeluyi, commended Oyedele for introducing a more professional and strategic approach to policymaking through regular consultations and evidence-based decisions.

According to Agbeluyi, the minister’s inclusive leadership has strengthened cooperation between the government, businesses and development partners, contributing to greater confidence in Nigeria’s fiscal management.

The Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) also applauded the ministry for becoming more responsive to the concerns of the organised private sector, noting that continuous dialogue with businesses has improved understanding of government policies and created a more predictable business environment.

Tax expert Daniel Ikedi said Oyedele has improved collaboration among major economic institutions while enhancing communication on fiscal policies and advancing reforms designed to boost revenue generation, strengthen public finance management and increase investor confidence.

Ikedi added that although Oyedele gained national recognition while leading the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, his performance as Finance Minister has demonstrated his ability to turn policy recommendations into coordinated government action.

He further stated that the ministry has adopted a more proactive strategy in engaging both local and foreign investors, while working alongside other economic agencies to implement reforms aimed at achieving fiscal stability and long-term economic growth.

Another stakeholder, Faith Aina, described the ongoing reforms as a positive shift from previous practices, expressing confidence that the Finance Ministry is once again providing the leadership needed to support Nigeria’s economic recovery and sustainable development.
