Lagos Commissions Fresh Food Hub in Agege
The Lagos State Government has commissioned the Lagos Fresh Food Hub in Pen Cinema, Agege, as part of efforts to improve food distribution and strengthen food security across the state.
The facility, built on 7,000 square metres of land, is designed to make it easier and more efficient to move food from farmers and suppliers to communities across Lagos.
The hub provides space for hundreds of traders and is equipped with dry and cold storage facilities, a dedicated seafood section, parking spaces and electric vehicle charging points.
Beyond providing trading space, the facility is expected to bring farmers, traders, retailers, institutional buyers and consumers closer together through a more organised and efficient food distribution system.
The Agege hub is one of the middle-level facilities within Lagos State’s wider food distribution network. It is supplied by the Central Food Security and Logistics Hub at Ketu-Ereyun and works alongside other facilities, including the hub in Mushin.
The state government said the network would help bring food distribution closer to residents, improve access to fresh produce and strengthen the overall food supply chain across Lagos.
