According to him, the affected pupils developed complications after reportedly consuming food suspected to have been contaminated.

The students were subsequently taken to Malam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for emergency medical treatment.

However, four of them reportedly died at the hospital on the night of Sunday, August 16, 2026.

The exact nature of the food consumed by the pupils and the substance suspected to have caused the illness remained unknown as of the time of filing this report.

Following their deaths, the remains of the victims were buried after permission was obtained from the relevant authorities, including the District Head (Dagaci) and the Divisional Police Officer.

The incident has raised concerns over food safety and the welfare of children attending Qur’anic schools in the area.

Authorities have yet to provide details on whether an investigation has commenced to determine the cause of the suspected poisoning.
